             We will bring you to the historical site of Wieang Lor, aging more than 900 years old. It is at Lor, Phayao, even though this province is small but it is old and many place worth studying and visiting.

               Wieang Lor is the frontage city of Phayao, it is more than 900 years oldl This city used to be the allied of Khun Chueng, the great warrior of Maekhong area, later when Lanna turned powerful, then it turned to be the corridor area of Lanna and Sukothai. When Lanna was conquered by Burmese, this city is the main city of Burmese soldiers to use as fort to attack other city. Until in BE.2322, Phaya Kavira took control of the city and took the population to Chiang Mai. The city was rebuilt during the time of King Rama V.

              Wieang Lor is located on the flat hollow land between the north and south valley with high elevation of 1,202 m. The terrain of the city is surrounded by the mountains around and with the river around the area.

             No body knows the time and the founder of this city, but the source indicated that when Khun Jomdhumma built Phyaoh. His territory covered Chieng Khong and including Wieang Lor.The word “Weiang “ means city. In BE.1699, when Khun Chung went to invade Chieang San, Wieang Lor was in the list of the city Phayao.

               The city has river Ing as the main source of water cut through the city, and the river divides the city into north and south. The river is the divided line of Wieang Lor.

               We can see the ancient wall and the city moat, and the pillar of the city. All of the historical sites are within the city wall.

               The city wall is 1-34 meters high with the length around 2,750 m. the structure of the wall is double wall with outer and inner wall. The wall is brick and the earthen wall, some of the wall are the wall of the temple.

               We will go to Wat Phrajaokaokard, which is in the north western of Wieang Lor. The archeologist discovered many sand stone Buddha around, the pavilion, part of the temple around.

              Continue for 200 m. we Wat Kuprakao which is on the east of Wat Phrajaokaokard. There are many pagodas, pavilion, many sand stone Buddha, Buddha amulet and ceramic cups and pots from China.
