Wat Srikonkum- Phrajao Tonluong
Phayao is the small province in northern part of the country. It has good weather and good environment, making an attractive place to see and visit. Beside the nice natural resource, the city has many historical places to study and see. Still, there are many Thai and foreigners coming to tour this place and we will bring our friends to see.
There are 4 names being known for Wat Srikomekum, the name Wat Srikomekum is official name. The name Wat Phrajao Tonluang is the name local people called because there is the big Buddha statue in the pavilion named Phrajao Tonluang. The third name is Wat Nongeing, because there was a big swamp near the temple named Nongeing. So, the local called this temple the name of the swamp, which is by the temple. The last name is Wat Lueangnok, because the temple is outside the city of Phayao.
Wat Srikomekum is the example in modern developing temple of Phayao for a long time. The temple was built in BE.2034 by Phrajao Tonlueang. There has been many famous abbots of the temple among the people, with a lot of work construction and development.
The famous development was in BE.2465 by the governor of Buddhist monk of Phayao as the chairperson of the ceremony. Also, the legend monk of Lanna in developing the temples, Kruba Srivichai the saint of Lanna of the northern part of Thailand, as the chairperson in construction and development.
In this temple, Phrajao Tonlueang known as the biggest Buddha statue in the north of the country is situated in this temple. The statue is 14 m. in width and 16 m. in height, people in Phayao worship this statue as the icon of Phayao .
Phrajao Tonlueang is considered the Buddha statue of Phayao, besides being the icon of Lanna. Around May of every year, or on Vesakabuja (Vesak Day by UN), there is the celebration of the famous Buddha statue of this temple. The festival is called Pad-peng as local people believe Pharjao Tonlueand is the representative of Buddha. Many people in this province and the people from difference provinces would come to this festival.al.

viewing the main Buddha, we walked around the temple
and saw many old Buddha statue around the temple.
There are the northern style Buddha statue donated
by the Buddhist worshipers to make merit according
to their believe. There is the garden of heaven and
hell to let people learn the karma of good and bad
action of people after their death.
There is a hall in the pond behind the temple, the construction is the arts of Lanna. They raise the fish in this pond and fish are big because the visitors feed them. The Buddhist do harm the living things in the temple, it is the culture in the Buddhist countries in Southeast Asia.
