Wat Palad
There are many temples in Chiang Mai, each of them has a long history for centuries and well respected by people. We will bring you to visit Wat Palad
People in the north are dedicated to Buddhism. The miracle during the time of Phraya Kuena, the relics of Buddha grew from 1 piece to 2 pieces at Wat Suan Dok was an example for people to believe in phenomenon.
On the Visaka Bucha day, the king made his wish by putting the relic of Buddha on the top of the elephant and let him walked freely.
From Wat Suan Dok, the elephant walked up hill to Doi Suthep. The first hill was called Doi Makanun or Doi Changnoon, the second hill was Doi Samyod and the elephant rested. This spot was called Wat Palad, then the elephant continued until Wat Phrathud Doi Suthep.
Wat Palad is 1 of 3 temples on the National Park Doi Suthep-Pui, the temple is more than 500 years old an was neglected for a long time. It has been renovated and use as the meditation center. The name is called after the waterfall on this spot.
The structure of the temple is the Burmese style, many buildings need renovation. There is a pond in the temple, believe it was built during the time of the temple for the temple to use in dry season without water from waterfall.
Buddha statue near the waterfall named similar to waterfall.
This temple is the small temple for meditation, and it is connected to Wat Phrathud Doi Suthep. On the way to the temple, we passed by Wang Buaban waterfall, the name of the young broken hearted from Chiang Mai that fell in love with the man from Bangkok, and ended in tragedy at this waterfall when he abandoned her. A love story !
