Wat Jedyod Buddha Kaya

This place is at Wat Jedyod in Chiang Mai, built by the king of Mengrai Dynasty BE.1992(1449) and this temple was use as the first Sangha Council Conference of Tripitaka -Lanna Edition in BE.2020(1477),known as the first time in Thailand, and the Eighth World Buddhist Sangha Council Conference.
Wat Jedyod was build during the time of King Tilokraj 9th of Mengrai. It started by the Buddhist monk from Sri Lanka brought the Bo tree from his country, and planted at Wat Padeng near the base of Doi Suthep. The King learned that the Bo is important in Buddhism and he got the branches of the tree from the temple and planted at this temple and named Wat Mahabo. Then Phra Utmapanya was invited to be the first abbot of this temple.
Mune Damphrakot and the staffs was commissioned by the King to go to India and copied 7 pagodas related to Buddha during his time. The copies of 7 pagodas from India were built in this temple. Since the style was not the local architect, but the Indian pagodas. People called the temple 7 pagodas, known as Wat Jedyod.
Wat Jedyod or Buddha Kaya is an important historical temple. The base of the pagoda is square shape with big room to put the Sing-nung Buddha statue in the pagoda. It was built during King Tilokraj, and he selected all important and learned monks of the northern regions to be in the Conference. The King was chairman, and Phra Dhamma-tin as chairman of the monks of the Sangha Council Conference of Tripitaka-Lanna in this temple. It took one whole year to achieve the goal, the first Conference in Thailand and the Eight World Buddhist Sangha Council Conference.
The decoration of the pagoda were many crafted of angles in difference ancient uniforms, known as Chiang Mai Style

The pavilion was important for royal conference during the time of founder on the World Conference in BE.2020. The present pavilion was built in BE.2512 (1969) as the fourth construction since the original pavilion.
The archeologist speculated that the present hall of the temple was built during the time of King Muengkaeo, the 11th king of Mengrai dynasty, the grandson of King Tilokraj. This site was used as the crematorium of King Tilokraj, also for King Yodchiengrai, his father in BE.2045 (1502)
The pagoda of King Tilokraj was built by King Yodchiengrai, his son to put the ashes of his father in the pagoda. There is Phra 700 years, Sri Chiang Mai in front of the school building Phra Pariyatdhamma Building, built in BE2539 (1996) to celebrate the 700 years of Chiang Mai. In this Phra 700 years building, there is a big teak Buddha statue aged around 1,000 years and dress with jewelry
