Rever
rafting at Um-Pung Key
Rafting is another activity that
challenging and popular especially
in the rainy season.
For today we would
like to introduce an activity that
is the rafting at the Um-Pung Key in
Tak province. It is very funny and
exciting.
|
|
The Um-Pung Key village is a Karen
village which is in the forest and
we must go to there by the 4-wheel
vehicle and stay over night in the
house at Um- Pung Key village.
The house
in the village has the solar
electricity with a big battery but
you should prepare the flashlight
for emergency.
|
|
After breakfast, we start to travel
into the forest by walking more than
3 hours to the Um-Pung Key. The path
that we walked is very awful with
the bloodsuckers and slippery way
because it rained all night.
Although it was the difficult and
tire travel, it was funny and
exciting.
When we pass the mountain and
faced with a turbulent stream that
we need to walk across it about 11
times. Some points deep to the knee,
some points deep to the neck and
some points need to across the river
by the single rope.

Um-Pung
Key has many kinds of derivation in
the forest and some where has the
orchid which is the rare species too
and it is covered by the intensive
trees that look really refreshing.
All time that we raft at Um-Pung Key
or about 4-5 hours, we went through
many of the 77 strong current
points. The river rafting at Um-Pung
are only the 3rd and 4th
levels but it is fun and
exciting. The end of the rafting is
Ban Pae-Do-Tha.

The international rafting level is
divided as follows:
Level 1 means very easy,
there are little strong current, not
too technical for rafting.
Level 2 means the normal, the
water is rapid that require some
rafting techniques.
Level 3 means the beginning
of an exciting level and use more
skill for rafting.
Level 4 means difficult level
that require more technical and
skills to raft.
Level 5 means very difficult
that requires the high technical for
rafting and must be more careful
because water is fast flowing and
strong, it needs the expert who has
the high experienced to take care
the rafting too.
Level 6
means the danger that is not
suitable for rafting. Because the
water is too rapid and high risk for
the accident.
