Sridit waterfall at Khao Kaw, Phetchabun

                                     The source of the Sridit waterfall begins in the Petchabun Mountains. The waterfall is also used for hydro-electricity. This area is also a beautiful wildlife refuge where tourists can come and experience the wonders of nature. There was a special soldier who took care of this area. His name was Prapot Sridit and in honor they named the wildlife area after him. The park began to use this name in 1981.

                                     This area is a wildlife sanctuary where the animals are protected. Poaching is against the law here and is treated as a crime. The area is 27,200 Rai which connects to many mountains of which Khao Kaw is the highest. The mountain range is 700 to 1,000 meters above sea level. In the summer the average temperature is 32 C and in the winter months it is around 2C. There are many varieties of trees and botanicals. In this forest you can find wild boar, tigers ,wild hen, many birds and snakes.

                                     In this area there is a small local restaurant where they serve grilled chicken and Somptam.    They also have an area where you can buy souvenirs like t-shirts and sunhats. The atmosphere is clear and pollution free.     There is a special house where the king and his family stayed when they would come to this area to work. They have preserved this house and kept it in fine condition. He came to this house on February 20, 1984.

                                      It is located at Baan Rom Pho Rom Sai, Moo 10, Tambon Nong Mae Na , Amphoe Khao Kaw, Petchabun..Open hours 8am to 5pm. There is a entrance fee 20 baht each and kids are 10 baht each. The contact number is 056-748-980 or 055-252-742-3.
