Pa Tang Unan restautant Chiang Rai
There are many Unan restaurants In Chiang Rai and other
provinces in the northern of Thailand, but today Id like to
introduce you the Pa Tang Unan restaurant where is always
welcome all of the tourists warmly. This restaurants foods
are very delicious and it has a nice natural view with the
beauty of Doi Yoa (a long mountain) which it used to be the
battlefield between Thais army and Communists.
Unan food is the restaurants name. It is only a
restaurant beside the road. Whoever comes to Doi Pa Tang,
always have meals at this restaurant. The restaurants owner
is a son of the former Chinese soldier in the 93rd soldier
division who is the original Unan man too.

The 93rd soldier division was a Chinas army which
leaded by the field marshal Chiang Kai-Shek, who was
the China government delegate to protect the border
between China and Myanmar. After the China
government lost the war to the Communist Party which
leaded by Mao Tes-Tung. Then Chiang Kai-Shek left
from China to Taiwan so the 93rd soldier division
was free under military and they escaped the
Communist purge from China to Chiang Lub, a city in
Myanmar. There were a lot of people came with the
division too so they divided the people into 5
divisions which was under the command of the General
Li
Mee.
In 2504 B.E., the Myanmar army decided to crack down
on this displaced Military and then the Myanmar
delivered three military divisions back to Taiwan.
There were two divisions which were the third and
the fifth did not want to go to Taiwan and escaped
the Myanmar purge to the Northern of Thailand.
Finally, the third division arrived and lived at
Fang district in Chiang Mai province and the fifth
division was at Doi Mae Salong, Mae Chan district in
Chiang Rai.

In
2513 B.E., the Thai government allowed them to live in
Thailand as the migrant. Then the Air Chief Marshal Thawee
named the village Baan Santi Kiri that mean to the
peaceful village on the mountain. These Chinese army which
leaded by the General Tuan had and important role to resist
the Communist with Thai army at Doi Luang Doi Yao (Pa Tang
in the present) and Doi Pa mon. This included at the Khao
Kho battlefield in Petchbun Province where was the last duty
before they disarmed to Thai army.
There are the former soldiers in the 93rd division live in
Doi Pa Tang and help to preserve Thailand like at the Doi
Mae Salong where the General Tuan was the head villager and
he was a good coordinator with the government official. He
is well known of the people at Doi Mae and the people still
talk about him in the present.
Unan people live in the simple life. They plant the
vegetables for cooking by themselves because of it is very
far from the city so all of the food at this restaurant made
by themselves such as the buns, pork curry, stuffed omelet,
fried vegetables which are fresh and the Pa Tang wine.
It is a delicious food and has the nice natural
view of the mountain, Doi Yao so if you come to Doi Pa Tang,
dont forget to have meals at this Unan restaurant too.
