Lahus Market, the kingdom
of hilltribe products
Traveling through Mae Sod district
of Tak province, around kilometer no.29, you will see the
famous hilltribe market called Lahus market. Everyday,
from morning till late afternoon, vendors in their
traditional colorful clothes gather here to sell their hill
tribe products, mostly fresh fruits and vegetables.
Lahus market is widely known
among tourists who travel back from Mae Sod district or from
the famous Tee-Lor-Su waterfall in Tak province. Since it is
the only big market in this highway, most of the tourists
would stop by to shop some souvenirs here before heading to
Bangkok.
The distinctive point of Lahus
market is the various fresh fruits and vegetables collected
from nearby forest. The products are lined up alongside of
the road waiting for you to choose. Jump into our eyes is
the very fresh wild boar meat with thick skin and hard fur,
selling on the roadside along with local fowl. I wish I
could stay overnight here tonight and enjoy this fantastic
dinner!
If you have a chance to visit this
market, dont forget to stop for a few minutes break at the
coffee shop on the right side of the market (facing the
market) and try a large cup of tasty coffee at 20 baht only!
Drinking coffee wandering around among the tribes, isnt
that a good idea?
We recommend that if you travel to
Tee-Lor-Su waterfall, Lahus market is a place that you
should not miss out. Now, lets look at our photos below and
enjoy traveling with us!!
