Phu Ware the mountain of Nan
Nan is the province of east Lanna, it is still
full of natural resources. Forest and high
mountain are still in good condition. Phu Ware
is another mountain at level of 1,837 m., with
grass land, variety of trees and rocky terrain.
Phu Ware is a good tourist attraction, due to
high, cool and fresh air.

To
go to Phu Ware, we will have to go to Phu Ka
National Forest and to Phu Ware. The travel time
is 2 days and 1 night on the mountain. Travel to
Ban Dan and then to Phu Ware Forest Center, the
beginning of going up high elevation.

Prepare camping gear by ourselves, it is cold on
the high mountain and we need protection from
the cold weather at night. Carriers can be
provided ahead of time at the forest ranger .

There are some signs telling the campers to
prepare for drinking water before going up the
mountain for camping. The way up the mountain is
not steep and there are few trees on the way.
Find the suitable spot, protected from the
strong wind at night and set the camp for the
night.

We can look down and see the area below with the
trace of seasonal farming in the past. Also the
rocky area and some trees growing out from the
rock on the mountain.

Darkness come and follows by strong wind, not
much we can do but to get inside the camp and
rest until morning. The nice early sunrise awake
all the climbers to see the good view.

can see variety of trees around, many of them
bloom in the early winter. It is worthwhile to
make the trip up this mountain.

Nan is 668 km. from Bagkok. There are many
bus lines from Northern Bus Depot, Bangkok
to Nan many trips in a day. Tel.

train from Bangkok every day to Denchai,
Phrae and by bus for 146 km. to Nan.
