Mae Nuang’s Khanom Chak

                In the Bang Prakong River area, there are a lot of Nipah Palms which usually grow in mangrove forest. The locals use its leaf as a sweet wrapper.

                This kind of sweet is made of black sticky rice, sugar, and young coconut meat. The reason that it is called Khanom Chak is because the dessert is wrapped with Nipah Palm leaves. (in Thai = Bai Chak)

                ภายในวัดเป็นที่ประดิษฐาน หลวงพ่อพุทธโสธร พระพุทธรูปคู่บ้านคู่เมืองของฉะเชิงเทรา เป็นพระพุทธรูปปูนปั้นปางสมาธิ ตามประวัติเล่าว่า เดิมเป็นพระพุทธธูปหล่อด้วยสัมฤทธิ์ ปางสมาธิ หน้าตักกว้างศอกเศษ รูปทรงสวยงาม ภายหลังพระสงฆ์ภายในวัดเห็นความงดงามนี้จะเป็นอันตรายต่อองค์พระเอง จึงได้ช่วยกันนำปูนมาพอกเสริมปั้นหุ้มองค์เดิมไว้ พระพุทธโสธรที่เห็นในปัจจุบันจึงเป็นพระพุทธรูปปูนปั้น ลงรักปิดทอง พระพักตร์แบบศิลปะล้านนา พระเกตุมาลาแบบปลี ความกว้างของพระเพลา 3 ศอก 5 นิ้ว หรือ 1 เมตร 65 เซนติเมตร สูง 1 เมตร 98 เซนติเมตร สร้างโดย ฝีมือช่างล้านช้าง

                Mae Nuang Chao Kao is one of the most famous Khanom Chak shops in Chacherngsao Province. Mae Nueng has been selling Khanom Chak for over 20 years already.

                Her recipe has been passed on from her mother. With many years of experience, it makes her Khanom Chak tasty, smell really good, and become famous in the province.
