Other parts of
the country is the 12th month of
the year by the Thai lunar calendar.
It
started on the 13th of the month
to buy supplies, prepare and cook food for
the next day. On the 14th, a big
celebration at the temples, and making
kratong to put foods and supplies for the
needy people as the donation. On the 15th
full moon, the time for floating the small
krathong in the river or water
Lanna
decorated the temples and houses near the
streets with lights, ribbons, difference
colors.
They make
floating lanterns with bamboo frame and
light paper, put the candles inside and the
hot air works like hot air balloon floating
the lanterns into the air. Making the night
lighted with floating lanterns in the sky.
This
celebration is one of the most famous
festivals of the year. The streets are full
of multi-cultural people to enjoy
themselves. The sky is full of lights in the
sky by the floating lanterns, flying in the
wind up and away.
Usually the ceremony opens on the first week
of November for 3 celebration day.
We
also would want you to see the beauty
contest of Miss Loy Krathong or Miss
Nopamas the founder of Loy Kratong. It is
part of the celebration every year. Still,
there are many activities for the tourists
to come and enjoy this spectacular festival
of the year in Lanna. It is convenience to
travel to Chieng Mai , take the bus at
northern bus station and straight to north.
