               Tung Gean market, a unique and attraction market, where many shoppers desire to visit and buy some souvenirs. Tung Gean market also has the biggest circulation of money, particularly a lot of incomes in high season.

               Tung Gean market is located at Asian highway no.1 in Lampang province. If visitors drive from Koon Tarn Doi to the market, you can see it on the left hand side but if driving from Bangkok to the market, it is on the right which visitors can park a car and use the overpass through the market or reverse a car passing under a bridge and park it beside the market.

               In the past, Tung Gean market was just a tiny market where there were a few shops sold only wild products. Later on, the market was more well-known for a lot of visitors. So the market areas were expanded and developed sufficiently to shopper demands. Today, Tung Gean market becomes one famous large souvenir market in Asian Highway.

               Tung Gean market usually opens during 6 am to 7 pm every day. The market is divided to four main areas where there are many variety products to provide the visitors such as raw food, home-made food, processed food, wild products and ceramics.

               For the first area is located near the market entry. Most of products is OTOP (One District One Product; the government supporting product) from the North such as Nam (sour pork), Moo Yaw (Hmoia), pickled garlic, pickled plum, peach, persimmon, Kow Soi Tad (Northern snack made from noodle), durian chip, jack fruit chip, dry longan and dried banana; moreover there are some fresh fruit like pear, green apple, dragon fruit, persimmon and strawberry.

               The second area is similar to a food center. There are a hundred of menu like Sai Gaew (spice pork sausage), Kab Moo (fried pig’s skin), Naam Prik Nhum (spicy dipping), fried insects, grilled chicken, grilled pork, wild animals and wild animal curries; futhermore visitors are able to enjoy a lot of made-to-order and ready-to-serve menus here.

               The third one is so exciting because most of merchants are selling a lot of wild animals and unique products; for example, boar head, boar meat, barking deer meat, venison, black leg grouses, honeycombs, vespiary, bamboo shoots, wild orchids and so on which visitors hardly see from other places.

 

               The last area is ceramic products and traditional clothes distributions place where visitors can buy many good quality stuffs in inexpensive price because Lampang province is renowned in beautiful and high quality ceramic. In this area, they sell a lot of wooden household furnishings, ceramic decorations and bentwood. Additionally, the visitors can go shopping and buy some elegant jewelry, silver and gold ornaments which its price depends on component purity in front of the parking areas.

               For visitors who drive in Bangkok-Lampang Street, please recognize to visit Tung Gean market where you can get new souvenirs for your beloved person. If you can visit at Tung Gean market once, then you will not be disappointed in varieties of product from this market.
