Fog is the vapor because of humid in the air and cool temperature near the surface of the earth.

Cause of the fog

 The cool weather at night with high humid and turns out to be the vapor in the air. Mostly in the early morning or at night

  A little higher fog is call mist that is still the vapor in the air. On the windless day and high pollution from the smoke stays in the air is called smog.

Characteristics of fog:

1.   Radiation fog or Ground fog happens on the hot sunny day and cool down at night turn out to be the vapor in the air; mostly it happens in the valley.

2.   Advection fog happens when the hot air move up and hit the cold air and turns to fog. Often appears near the seashore known as Sea fog.

3.   Steam fog when the cold weather moves to the warmer area, the vapor turns to fog; mostly it happens in the sea, known as Sea smoke.

4.   Upslope fog appears when the air moves up the hill and high up until it hit the cold air and become fog.

The Inversion fog appears in the higher elevation around 200-600 meter above, the higher the thicker it is. 

We have the dark fog seems to be smog on certain day making it difficult to see more than 1 km.
