Drive to Thong Phapoon and Sangkra.
Driving from Bangkok to Kankanaburi is around hour and half, and to continue to Sangkra will be another 200 km. spending 4 hr. driving. There are many places to see and spend time with nature and many difference tribes of people. Kc. Province consisting of Burmese, Mon, Karen, all living in harmony.
The road from K. city to Sangkra is parallel with the Rive Kwai, going to Sai yok noi water fall, and Sai Yok yai. The road lead to Thongpaphoom , then continue to Sangka. The road is winding road and take special care to drive up and down the dangerous mountain. Khaolam Dam is in Thongpaphoom, and it is a very scenic view during the rainy season with low cloud in the mountain, making it a refreshing to drive to this area.

We go on to Thongpapoom and visit Khaolam Dam, the official name is called Vachiralongkorn Dam. It is the largest land filled dam in the country. The dam is very near the city Thongpapoom. This city was made famous because once it was near the silver mine named Pilock mine. The mine is around 60 km. from the city and it is out of operation a long time ago when the material ran out, the mind died out also.
Not much things to see at Thongpapoom , so we filled the tank of the car and straight ot Sangkra. There were some Karen selling the fresh mushroom on the side of the road, so we bought it to make soup later.
We met the vendor selling the fresh fish from the dam, They look nice and we bought 2 difference fish. There are the boat raft for rent in the lake at 1,000 Baht / night.
We bought the fresh rambutan right out from the orchard, selling on the road for cheap price. Then we drove to Thongpapoom , easy driving and good view on the way.
At Sangkra, there are Burmese, Mon, Karen and Thai living and making living in this city. We saw local people in their costume looking impressive to the tourists. There is Wat Somdej in Mon style right in the city of Sangkra.
