In the morning,
people give alms to Buddhist monks,
celebrate at the temples in the
afternoon and walk with lighted
candles in hand around a temple.
Also, there is an annual tradition
to walk up Doi Suthep.
This tradition
occurred in the past, when the grand
Buddhas relic at
wat suan-dok
divided in to two parts. The Lanna
King let an elephant find a place to
build a new temple for the new relic,
which is now wat Doi Suthep.
