               In the morning,  people give alms to Buddhist monks, celebrate at the temples in the afternoon and walk with lighted candles in hand around a temple.  Also, there is an annual tradition to walk up Doi Suthep.

               This tradition occurred in the past, when the grand Buddha’s relic at wat suan-dok  divided in to two parts.  The Lanna King let an elephant find a place to build a new temple for the new relic, which is now wat Doi Suthep.

           There are 10 stop-points to have some free snakes serving for people who walk up the hill. 

           In 1943, Khrubaa-Sriwichai, the we-known monk at that time, with Lanna people buit a road to wat doi suthep.  There 3 other wats wat srisoda, wat phaaad and wat anakhamee buitt at the time.

         People walk up to Doi Suthep in the night before Visakhabhuja day.  Monks and people from many villages begin their parade in the evening from Chiengmai University,  To Doi Suthep. The way is about 14 Kilometers.
There are 10 stop-service-points to have some free shakes for everyone.  They  est , eat then continue walking.
