Guide of Doi Pui
T
his trip Moo hin will take you to Chiangmai.
We will make a trip to Doi Suthep to worship the Lord Bhuda
at Doi Suthep shine, and after that we will pay a visit to
popular tourist spot, that is Doi Pui.

In the past 50 years, Doi Pui was the area where
opium are grown and there were a wide spread of drugs in
this area.
His Majesty The King was very concerned about this
problems and through his initiative, the opium land at Doi
Pui has turned into a fertile land. The local inhabitants
mainly the Mong hill tripes
started to grow
flowers and vegetables and earned a reasonable income to
support their families. Some family started sewing garments
and shoes made of clothes for sale.
Doi Pui gradually became a tourist area where people
from all over the world would come to Doi Pui after visiting
the holy temple at Doi Suthep because it is only 10
kilometers away.
After our team drove down from
the Mong villeage, we met the junior guide of Doi Pui, Meng
and Po. We started our trip by walking a small path leading
to some tea shops, and there we met the most senior citizen
of Doi Pui at the age of 100 year-old, still moving actively
except with some hearing problem. The highlight of the trip
was when they showed us how they preserve their traditional
activities such as using the old material of rice grinding,
using wooden mortar for pounding to separate the rice grain,
and also the traditional methods of grinding the flour.
Most of the tools used are made of wood
Meng
and Po suggested that we should try the Mongs national
costumes which we pay Bht 30.- for rental charge. They are
colorful decorated with ornaments. These costumes are
normally used during official functions or at weddings. There
are many charms at Doi Pui, but we should not have young
children running around begging.This will give
bad impression to the tourist and it may perhaps destroy
the charm of Doi Pui,or even Chiangmai as a whole.
