Low Carbon Society is the project of the Committee of Businessmen for the Environment and the Municipal of Chiang Rai, the Institute of the Environment, and 9 major companies. They are Thai Gypsum Co., K- Bank, Krung Thai Bank,Bangkok Bank, Bangchak Co., Toyota Motor Co., Viriya Insurance Co., Electricity Authority of Thailand, Interfax Co. and Lakesa Co.
The project TBCSD to the north to builds dams and plants trees was on 4-8 November 2552(2009) to preserve water, increase green area, reduce the green house effect. The project is to increase the knowledge to the community and youth, and to let organizations to joint venture with the society.
The director of the Committee of the Businessmen for the environment mentioned that the program is to reduce the greenhouse effect to zero, the organization still donate sporting equipments, school supplies, and change the light bulbs to saving the energy.
This program can reduce the carbon to 2.9 tons , this program can reduce the GHG to 480 tons of CO2 to Low Carbon Society.
The dam is the place to collect natural water, which it is the source of life of the trees and the forest. The dam can reduce the flow of the rain water to the lower parts, slow down the flooding to the villages. It is the way to preserve the soil for agriculture and the forest.
